Biographic Information

As you see, I´m always interested in music related medical or physical problems brasswind musicians are suffering from. Dental disorders, malfunctions deseases or difficult orthodontic findings may turn out to be brassplayer´s predominant problems, especially when developing slightly but with increasing influx on embouchure. Remaining without treatment by competent practitioners and teachers, these musicians could end up with loosing their playing ability or - at least - they will not keep or reach a level of higher quality performance.
Unfortunately, I did not find too many of my colleages here in Germany who are familiar with brasswind players special physiological and dental needs. Currently under construction is the "Gesellschaft für Musikphysiologie und Musikermedizin", so things seem to change. But there still is a certain lack of information on both sides, the doctors and the musicians.

Data

Date of birth: 1956, 27th Oct., married.
Dentist since 1981, own office at Barsinghausen, Hannover County, Germany.

Trombone / Tuba since 1967, quitted conservatory trombone study in 1975 for dentistry after considering severe dental handicaps as a limiting factor concerning playing abilities.
Trumpet since 1998.

I like almost any kind of music, but sinfonic and most jazz styles best. After having been a bigband lead trombonist until 1988, I still play lots of gigs on trumpet with my Dixieland band:

The remake of the Firehouse Five Plus Two Hail-to-the-chief, Ward Kimball!
